Important news regarding trade mark registration through the Madrid System of the international registration procedure, via WIPO. As of 17 June 2019, three months after signing the Madrid Protocol, the Nice Agreement and the Singapore Treaty, Canada has officially joined the countries participating in the procedure.

From this moment on, it will be possible to register a trade mark in Canada by designating it in the international registration procedure before WIPO. Joining the procedure offers economic advantages for the trade mark owner and simplifies its management, as the entire registration and renewal procedure is handled by a single Office (OMPI/WIPO).
